|East River State Park
Brooklyn, New York
New York State's Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, along with the Trust for Public Land, retained RGR to develop a conceptual design and prepare construction documents for a post-industrial site along the East River, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. RGR's objectives for the project included making the site safe and accessible to visitors while maintaining its historic, industrial character.
RGR used existing concrete walls and platforms as a starting point for the scheme. The plan included re-grading of the site to create graceful slopes of grasses and wildflowers.
RGR's design for the new East River State Park synthesizes historic, industrial structures, and new landscape elements, thereby creating a distinct New York waterfront experience.
